Victorian Mistress set, 2021
Design: Elisa Guerrero
Victorian Mistress set was part of the costume for a college project. It represents the lover who never married and who, over time, still wears her wedding dress: worn, decayed, yet still on her. Notably, the bat-shaped neckline references the iconic Mugler dress of the 1990s.
The ensemble, consisting of a bodice and skirt, was executed using a hybrid technique: flat pattern construction and draping on a mannequin. The design involved extensive textile manipulation, including distressing and burning techniques, natural dyes, and experimental finishes. The fabrics were sourced from recycled materials of various origins.
